Reverse: The reverse of each coin depicts a traditional Chinese dragon, a long, scaled, serpentine creature with four legs, and a ‘pearl of wisdom’. The Chinese character for ‘dragon’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Dragon’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
Obverse: Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, each gold coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse. Also the coins origin country, year, denomination, gold weight and proof are marked on the obverse.
